Just a Pinch!

So there you are trundling along, life is not too bad but it’s hardly singing at you either. You’re getting into a rut, putting up with and tolerating more and more of what you don’t want.

As the next wave comes in you think, ‘Right! That’s about as much as I can take!’ You find yourself in a pattern where you get to the point of reaching your limit, you’re angry at yourself and upset, it lasts a while, followed by stalemate, you simply normalise it, as you always do, and just carrying on.

This continues to be your repeating pattern until you get what I call a ‘Pinch’. A Pinch is either a situation that blows up, taking you one step too far or you’ve arrived at a crisis of meltdown and overwhelm. Thoughts like ‘It can’t go on like this, I have to change it’. ‘I have reached my limit, I can’t remain stuck in this way anymore,’ ‘ I am totally frustrated and fed up!’

This pinch is a wake up moment, a call to action if you will. What is vital to understand is that this call to action, a prompt for change will only last for a short period of time. If we choose not to act on it and resort to the favourite, human pass time of procrastination, the urgency will pass. We will start talking ourselves out of doing anything, with a string of what appear to be oh so justifiable excuses as to why we can’t take the step towards sorting our life out. The desire to move towards changing things gets gradually weaker, and surprise, surprise we find ourselves back where we started, returning to the same old, same old, just trundling along.

The same old frustrations and dissatisfactions will surface once again, and we continue to bear it, convincing ourselves of reasons why we should stay in the job that breaks our spirit or a relationship that breaks our soul. Feeling that there is so much more to life and we are simply not getting it…

I am here to remind you that yes, you do deserve to live a fulfilling life, have a job you enjoy and yes, you do deserve to have a good, loving relationship, you deserve all the good stuff!

As Tony Robbins says ‘You get what you tolerate.’

Time to stop tolerating a life that does not sustain you, choose to act, follow through on that ‘Pinch’ the next time it comes round again….
